Some day (probably on a weekend) I'd like to do an experiment: describing everything I'd do during that 24-hour period in real time and in excrutiating detail. I have the theory that it would be more interesting than what I usually post.

That is at best a half truth. With fediblock being a thing, if your instance is in it, you cannot go viral, no matter how hard you try.

Not to mention the assassination of character, even by proxy or association, that is so _in vogue_ in the Mastodon side of the Fediverse.

To be honest, I find it fun helping people understand how Fedi works _in practice_.

That's some fucked up logic. Whoever builds the nuclear bomb is the bad guy. All we need is to know whether it can be built and find a way to avoid it.

As it seems we already know it. Now is the time to avoid it.

A very important and pertinent reflection. Just as the Fediverse is the ‘Mastodon’ network for some, it will become the ‘Tumblr’ network in the future.

I must admit that I'm sympathetic to the author (@boyter, I think): it's true that it's difficult to test an AP implementation without some kind of infrastructure in place.

But I'm also with @aral: this should be opt-in.

I was just followed by an account(?) on mastinator.com. After careful consideration I decided to block the entire domain. Anyone (well, almost anyone) who wants to follow me is welcome, of course, but not anonymously. That's not cool.

I may reverse this decision in the future if I get more information, but, for now, this is it.

We need a new word, #twitsplaining, to define the advice ex-Twitter people like to give us about how to improve Fedi or how to use it effectively.

Actually, I don't think it's new. I'm pretty sure someone must have come up with it (or some variation) before me.

No sólo eso: es que manteniendo las universidades una infraestructura informática propia contribuirían a crear puestos de trabajo y a dar experiencia laboral a los estudiantes.

Todas las universidades deberían tener, como mínimo, un nodo de Tor, un servidor USENET y otro de correo, pero además todos los datos deberían quedarse en su infraestructura asumiendo las mejores prácticas de seguridad posibles. Y todo eso debería garantizarse por ley.

The Gold Account joke has been making the rounds in Pleroma probably for as long as the platform itself exists, but God bless you for thinking you're so creative and witty.

I can think of ways to improve it, and it's not like it's a new idea (bandstands have been a thing for years), but otherwise it's pretty cool.
