@adamgreenfield I could (and I do) say the same about you, because what in my post made you think that I am invested in a position other than “people should resolve their differences by talking to each other instead of keeping quiet and then complaining on the Internet about stuff that they could have just misconstrued?”

Also, what in my post made you think that I'm blaming anyone for anything?

The worst thing I can say about anything is that it's boring. If you ever read me say that about something, you can be sure that I hated it.

Is there an old net movement somewhere with a website, arguments and etc?

Listening to @All_bonesJones going on about some Twitch streamer unhappy about Twitch policies and apparently Twitch staff came to talk shit in the chat and dude could not ban them or something

I suggested moving to their own website for streaming. I know it's possible to still have bits, subs, donation and co via outside services too

Also, as far as I know, a lot of youtubers already doesn't rely on ads, they rely on outside subs, and they might be entirely demonetized already anyways

IMO it's about time a lot of people just go old school and start moving their shit on personal websites already

I think one thing that bothers me a lot with anything tech related is that while, yes, a lot of things can definitely have improved UX that is more user friendly, a lot of other things already have great UX that has been polished for years but gets a lot of undeserved criticism simply for being different from the status quo and/or requiring even the smallest amount of learning or effort

and I honestly entirely blame corporations that over the last 20 years have done everything to create walled gardens with the promise of "we do everything for you, if you have to think while using a computer that means it's bad"
and it's terrifying how well that worked on so so so many people

sometimes things just require you to sit down for half an hour, read something, learn something, try something you're not used to. that's normal. that is simply how anything even remotely advanced has worked for the thousands of years. you don't pick up an electric drill and throw a tantrum because it doesn't work exactly like a screwdriver. computers are a tool that let you do things, and just like any other tool, may require putting at least the smallest amount of effort into learning something

it's honestly frustrating how normalized "nuh uh i got adopted by [corporation's walled garden] and this is where i live for the rest of my life. anything even slightly different is just bad. why would I ever consider anything else, that's effort and effort is bad" has become

I understand that habits can be very strong, and I get it, adjusting to new things takes time, but it's not the end of the world. "more complex" doesn't necessarily mean "worse", it just means you would need to learn and adjust. teaching math at school doesn't stop at pre-algebra, it goes all the way to trigonometry and calculus because there's a good reason for it to be more complicated than the basics. learn something new, it's good for you.

To be honest, I always thought (or should I say ‘hoped’?) "Bob" would be on the side of the freakout.

ONLY J. R. “BOB” DOBBS STANDS BETWEEN THE CONSPIRACY AND TOTAL PLANETARY FREAKOUT

There seems to be quite a lot of magical thinking in the way some people read stuff, by which I mean that they will always interpret it in a way that suits their biases. I wonder if I'm guilty of that, too.

This is related (but not the same, I believe) as what happens when we argue with someone and we try to extract the parts of their argument that may give force to our own response to it. If you think about it, this selective ‘argumenteering’ is ultimately what causes the effect described by Godwin's Law.

There's little doubt but the World would be a better place without #NATO ....
RT @BTnewsroom: Former NATO chief Rasmussen calls for Ukraine to join NATO, to "fix the Russia problem" and "by that, we will free up resources to address the real long-term global challenge: China."

Q: "How do you think Russia is going to react?"

A: "I don't care."

Juegazo. Tiene la dificultad justa: es exigente sin ser frustrante. Y la mecánica es muy sencilla (de aprender, no de dominar).

I've been using @privacybrowser for PC and I have to admit that I find it really hard to get used to its Lynx-inspired style of page navigation. I hate jumping from link to link when using the cursor keys. (Or falling off of a textarea element when editing a post, like it happened to me just now.)

Other than that it's pretty cool.

And don't even get me started on Linux ‘users’ who chose Debian-based distributions. Fucking idiots.

“What about those who use desktop-oriented distros, like Mint and that other one whose name you can't remember right now?” I have only one word for you: POSER.

“BTW, I use Arch.” I can't hear you. You're muted.

“I don't use Linux. I use *BSD/Plan9/TempleOS, etc.” You think you're better than me? Fuck you!

For some reason, the people I dislike the most are the ones that, superficially, seem the most like me.

For example, do you love ? Me too! Problem is, you love the wrong books and you even have the wrong opinions about them. Being a fan of glorified fanfiction does not make you a bibliophile. If you like or , GOTO 10.

Are you a ? Really? Me too! Except you're not really a leftist, but a liberal at most. You enjoy capitalism and even take advantage of it. You probably vote Democrat (or your country's equivalent) and still wear a mask. You're a sellout and a fake.

“No, no, no. I really _hate_ the capitalist system. Seriously.” Yeah, I bet you do, but something tells me capitalism rejected you first the minute it saw you (and/or smelled you). You must be one of those idiots that think that being gay counts as a legitimate anti-establishment position. Also, Ucranian flag.

tl; dr: I have no friends.

Estaba pensando en contratar un con una empresa llamada Ginernet. ¿Alguien sabe algo de ellos? He buscado opiniones y la mayoría son positivas, pero no estoy seguro de que sean auténticas. Gracias.
