When I see people who aren't concerned about their data and #privacy in general, I get angry. Specially when they say, “I don't have anything to hide”. It's like you have to have something to hide to care.

A regular website, these days, shares your data with 500+ other websites and data exchanges.

If your data weren't relevant to them, they wouldn't jump through hoops and try to find loopholes to steal your data.

Grow the fuck up and pull your head out of your ass before it's too late

Seeing how 's LQ forum has become a cesspit of morons and gatekeepers, I have come to appreciate @alien's work and demeanor even more. He doesn't claim to speak for Pat and he gets very useful work done for the community. That's really something to admire.

We in India are stupid, we form castes and fight for temple rights. I'm stunned that Thailand & Cambodia are fighting for a Shiva temple.

If religion no longer serves humanity, why stick with it?

I’m looking for anyone in my circles who:

• is a front-end web developer
• has some design sense
• understands the allure of buying a Linux computer
• is open to paid work

A Linux computer company reached out asking if I was available for paid work on their website and while I would love to, I’m just not able to find the time right now. But they’re a great company and I would love to connect them with someone!

I find it amusing that all the responses to that post come from yes men (and/or women), and not a single one asks: “Why?” or “How do you define critical thinking? If I disagreed with something you said, would you consider me a critical thinker or just wrong?”

Kim Possible :kimoji_fire:
Remember when we we were taught not to believe everything we hear? Make critical thinking great again.

Every day I become more and more convinced that Rust programmers are, at best, BigTech's useful idiots.

I find it interesting that raping tends to be more extreme and frequent in a country that haven't legalize sex works.

Hi Fedi, Software and Electronic engineer looking for work here :blobwave: :boost_ok:

I'm looking for work in Berlin, or Germany, or remote. I'm especially experienced in programming language/compiler front end design, and working with DSLs, as well as all the usual backend and database skills in high level languages. I can also do basic frontend work. I'm also especially passionate about electronic engineering, with a degree in the subject and a lot of hobby work, especially around low-EMI board layout and design for manufacture.

If this sounds like an opening you know of, or even if it doesn't quite fit but you think you have an interesting opening, feel free to message me!

When someone says “retro-computing is tiny, why bother?” it helps to remember that the “small world” now contains multiple thriving hardware and software ecosystems that didn’t exist even five years ago.

And even then... where does it originate the imperious need to be misery guts telling others they shouldn't have fun, even if it's one single guy minding his business and toying around with transistors?

That mindset that only sees value in economies of scale, only accepting the capitalist mode of production is completely wrong.

People make things because making things makes them happy. People make things because they must, or for no reason whatsoever at all.

Perhaps the misunderstanding stems from the fact that the guys who can't understand that form of happiness for the sake of creation alone are the men who can only enjoy watching the world burn.

I'm not blind, but I get value out of alt text captions. Thank you to you people who take the time to add those to your photos.

Vuelve y juega:

While Trump is deporting landscapers and bricklayers at Home Depot parking lots, he's officially exempting the folks who wash dishes and make beds at hotels.

Just wondering: does Trump own hotels? Surely not, because that would be a way to line his pockets in violation of the Constitution's emoluments clause. But Trump wouldn't do that, would he? 🤠

I was thinking about regular online meetup around programming and computer science.

Is anybody interested?

#boost, please.
