Programming the #c128 VDC in #assembler is.... stupid. Not difficult per se, but complicated. it's really f*ing with your brain.

I am not an experienced #mos6502 / 6210 / 8502 #assembler coder (or even any assembler), so this might not be the most educated opinion :p
Coding for the #c64 seems to be generally more complex than #nes for example.
Which is fine.
One is a dedicated games machine, the other one a home computer that happens to run games quite well.

@multitink assembly for and are very simple per see, but it gets complicated once you start pushing the limits of these machines and the best games on these platforms do just that...

@josipretrobits Probably, I don't have the comparison with other platforms.
To me it seems to take longer to get something moving on the screen on a #C64 though. Only the X positioning of a sprite... I mean yea, once you have the code in your library, it's probably a piece of cake.
And I think you'll hit the limits much earlier on a C64 than on a NES - especially the sprite count.
I still prefer #C64 though, don't get me wrong, and I am determined to learn 🙂

@multitink I also prefer over anything else so I'm slightly biased :) But I do have a feeling that development still going strong!
