La primera portada que hago en mi vida que no colgaré en Twitter (aunque la podéis compartir por allí si queréis).

Cada vez que leo algo del estilo «esto debería ser gratis y accesible para todos» sé a ciencia cierta que es alguien que no tiene ni la más mínima idea de lo que es trabajar gratis.

Cuando hablo de «gratis», no me refiero únicamente al aspecto económico, sino también a la satisfacción personal que conlleva el trabajo.

Cuando algo es verdaderamente gratis, sin absolutamente ninguna condición de recibir algo a cambio, hay gente detrás currando de manera desinteresada, consumiendo su tiempo y/o recursos, para que ese bien o servicio funcione. Es decir, cuando pides algo gratis, lo que haces es pedir que otros hagan el trabajo por ti.

Es mucho mejor decir o pensar «esto debería ser barato y sostenible económicamente».

The whole AI thing has me endlessly confused. Half the market is crashing because investors didn't see any signs of payoff in the quarterly earnings report, but I'm so lost as to what exactly they were expecting to see. Did they just not pay any attention at all to what these companies were actually doing with AI?

Were they expecting exponential Instagram usage growth as a result of Meta making it so you can have a conversation with the search bar? Or maybe everyone was going to buy 10 new Windows licenses in celebration of Microsoft announcing they want to install AI powered spyware on everyone's computer? Or was Google going to sell more ads by replacing all the search results with reddit shitposts. Either I'm missing something or everyone's 2 remaining brain cells are just really busy fighting to death for 3rd place.

Never forget that the daily commute is bullshit and an unpaid waste of workers’ time. The need to commute causes traffic congestion, pollution, carbon emissions, and wear and tear on equipment, and is a root cause of the horrible housing affordability crises in metros across the country.

We proved during #covid shutdown years that remote work is viable. We got so much time back, the roads were empty, and we still got so much shit done. Anyone claiming that quality work is impossible without a daily commute is simply lying to you. They want your butts in seats to feel powerful, and to prop up their real estate investments.

Never forget: commuting is an unpaid hardship that comes out of your lifespan. Don’t simply accept it as the cost of doing business.

No se si estáis al tanto pero Juan Roig dueño de Mercadona y Willyrex entre otros están invirtiendo en vivienda de forma indirecta.

¿Cómo? Invirtiendo en una startup llamada Inversiva que se dedica a encontrar inmuebles, reformarlos, venderlos y después ofrecer llevar el alquiler de estos.

Además, esto trae un gran problema (para nosotros) que Willyrex destaca como una gran ventaja. Como comenta en el vídeo, gracias a esta startup puede especular con la vivienda sin que los inquilinos sepan quien está detrás. Esto es perfecto para que los famosos puedan seguir especulando con un bien de primera necesidad sin los problemas reputacionales.

Don‘t do that to an OSS project and the people working on it. They are not obliged to solve your problems. They might want to, but are restricted to do so. In time, money, skill or depth of understanding.
