@kreyren
It's a proxy service inbuilt into some Searx instances.
"proxify all the result URLs with an external service, morty."

searx.github.io/searx/admin/mo

Now, I don't see it in any Searx instance!

@frankie @kreyren Bummer! OTOH, Morty Proxy was almost always broken for me & gave some error about the intent of Morty Proxy when I clicked on a MP link. At least the most privacy-respecting search service¹ still gives cached links if you click the favicon. 1. ombrelo.pkduaxfk6lrmo2be4yr6ke5pqzsujihywsggfb7tocnz7x3vqqkhfoqd.onion

@koherecoWatchdog
oh!
cached from Archive.org?
All Searx instances have that.
@kreyren

@frankie @kreyren I recall that some had it and some did not. Has there been a change that makes that mandatory? BTW, I just noticed openworlds.info has morty. Does that mean they’re running an older version of searx, and will lose it when they upgrade?

@kreyren @frankie That doesn't really answer the question. An upgrade w/out morty may or may not break an existing morty installation, depending on how it’s typically installed to begin with. Usually upgrades don’t tamper with config settings.

@frankie
searx.tux.land/ still supports this proxy service, I don't know why its not seen in other searx instances.

I've been actually wanting to ask @tio about this, will you be able to add this to search.trom.tf sometime ? 🤔

@kreyren

@futureisfoss
hey, I think that's a pretty old version of Searx, though! :blobcatgiggle:

@tio
Maybe someone should request @yunohost to add it, I think a lot of other searx instances would also run this service if YNH added it..... 🤔
