I haven't done my sigmoid #introduction yet! Here goes.

I'm Mark Riedl. I am a Professor at the Georgia Institute of Technology in the US. I work on human-centered AI and ML.

What does that mean? I want AI systems that enhance the human condition.
● Telling stories to humans
● Computational creativity
● Creativity support
● Explainable AI
● Teaching AI social norms
● Safe reinforcement learning
● Safe NLP

I like puns and making jokes about AI.

Here's an AI-generated steampunk cat

@Riedl Any known cases of an AI LLM intentionally telling a witty joke? Like this steampunk cat is pretty cute and funny, but I don't know if the AI did that on purpose.

@kristinmbranson The cat is highly prompt-engineered and cherry-picked

AI humor generation is a thing (I will talk a bit about it at an upcoming NeurIPS tutorial on creative AI), but it is extremely challenging to get an AI system to intentionally tell a witty joke. Most is accidental and non-reproducable. There is some work out there, though not from my group.
