I've got YT Music playing and the video for Dancing With Myself by Billy Idol came on.

Is it weird that my first thought was, "Wow, look at that aspect ratio!"?

Tories break Britain

The OBR said despite the new support with energy bills, living standards are going to fall by 7% over the next two years. This would wipe out eight years of growth.

Welcome to #BrexitBrokenBritain

The one when you use homemade muffins to persuade a senior person within your organisation to agree to your recommendation. Not sure how vital they were, but we were using this person’s lunch break for a last minute meeting and I thought it would be unfair to expect them to listen to us without food. So we had muffins, we made a case and it got approved 💪🏻

Mastodonners.. This is Patch, the studio cat.

Patch loves nothing more than lying amidst the patch cables of a nice warm synth, or maybe stretching out across a vintage keyboard.

Despite appearances, Patch is 100% ruthless (Think Cato/Clouseau but with more scratchy violence)

The studio is hers, obvs, she just lets me use it, if I behave myself and turn on all the nice warm boxes.

Patch prefers ambient & cool jazz. Nothing too loud. :tiredcat:

Ukraine

A friend asked yesterday if I wanted to talk on (a major radio channel) about the missile that fell in Przewodów from the perspective of a Pole living in Scotland. Emotive questions were suggested, e.g. will there be a war, who’s missile was it.
I mean. I’m not an expert. But I thought there already was a war? Will the war escalate? Again, not an expert. I hope it won’t, in fact I hope it will end soon and the suffering of the Ukrainian people will end soon as well. Am I scared it will escalate? Sure, I bloody am and so should you - if it escalates it won’t escalate just to Przewodów. But again, not an expert to comment on various escalation scenarios. Who fired the missile? Not an expert. Didn’t track it. Don’t have data. There was a number of press conference organised by people who do have access to data and they presented the most likely scenario.
I said ‘no’ to the request. Primarily because as a comms person I think it’s bad practice to speak to the media in a private capacity (most of the time). I also didn’t comment because (as a trained not practicing journalist) I just don’t understand why you’d ask such questions of a non-expert. And sure, I can talk about how I feel. Not sure there’s many words to describe it. Not sure there’s anything useful to say.
What I did today though was I pinned a yellow and blue sunflower brooch to my winter coat.

Those little things that can make my day: two of my favourite people in my institution liking my post about my short story on LinkedIn and a troublesome BDE who dropped a tonne of work on me telling me I’m ‘a star as always’. Filing those in my ‘Kasia appreciation folder’ for a rainy day. 👍🏻

I think it's glorious that there's now a Mastodon server operated by people who used to work for Twitter (macaw.social). I could have never imagined it when I started in 2016.

Our first post on Mastodon, and where better to start than with our favourite place in Scotland? Sandwood Bay, south of Cape Wrath in Sutherland, offers nearly a mile and half of wide pinkish sand backed by huge sand dunes and a loch, plus an impressive sea stack: and a very long walk in. This: twitter.com/mariuszgierszew/st says that what fell on the Polish territory was the debris from a Russian missile shot down by the Ukrainian air defence. It’s from the Polish Radio Zet journalist who first reported the explosion earlier today

Hunt's going to be mighty upset when he finds out the Tories have already done that.
