@dankennedy_nu I will never, ever understand why people think if you're rich you must be smart. There are so many other possibilities.
“‘It’s just like we’re trying to do with global warming,’ Janka added. ‘How do we modify our behavior so we can live modern lives without unnecessarily damaging the earth?’”
But we’re failing at global warming, too.

@jeffowski That was almost as embarrassing as the Star Wars "life day" special
@Pat And with "low confidence". That's not being repeated much.
@OkieSpaceQueen Well maybe if you're far enough away from a brightly lit city- or university, or Walmart parking lot.
@marmel That's too easy.
It seems northern NY, New England already sold out in places for #Eclipse 2024 https://nationaleclipse.com We're booked for a VRBO in the Adirondacks- if it's cloudy (not unlikely) we have fussball and air hockey, of more interest to grandkids than solar geometry anyway. 2017 in NJ the eldest had fun with pinhole images.
@telescoper Memories of those 1967 8 AM classes- MWF physics, TThS chemistry. Not enough coffee in the world.
@skyglowberlin I took my grandkids out twice to make observations. They noticed how many more stars they could see when the neighbor's FIVE outdoor lights were off. The crazy thing is that the lights are on the back of the house, facing the kids' back yard and not 200 feet away.
@ThomM @OkieSpaceQueen Saw it a couple of nights ago in the bright skies of Princeton, NJ but mostly it's been more like this.
@OkieSpaceQueen And then they say "well it's just common sense". Which is how the road runner runs of a cliff and doesn't start to fall until he looks down.
@georgetakei Since they don't really want to govern it suits them just fine.
February 21 is the last official day of the 2nd Globe at Night campaign of the year. If it's clear where you are, please take 5 minutes to make a skyglow observation: https://www.globeatnight.org/webapp/
@triploidtree Ah, we weren't much into dancing. I think the Boston Bruins were playing that night.
