Here’s my favourite photo of the Australian night sky. The #Australian #indigenous peoples identified the “constellation” of “The Emu” - an outline formed not of stars but from the dark clouds of dust that obscure the Milky Way. You can clearly see the image of the emu in this one, with the head at the top right. This was taken in 2020 from Ebor Falls in New England, NSW #nightscapes #photography #astronomy

Bertrand Russell once said if he could educate children anything he would teach them of our insignificance in the whole cosmos, yet that anything we value such as love, poetry, philosophy and the arts, takes place in the few cubic centimetres inside our skulls. I paraphrase.
