I have a skewed perspective thanks to not ever having to do “dating” for the sake of finding a long-term relationship but it seems like all the options people have are either first-impression judgement by appearance or by meatspace social skills and both of those are not anywhere to close what I’m good at

How do YOU say gouda?

My pet peeve - delivery companies that are far too eager to mark a delivery as "started", but not remotely willing enough to admit that something has gone even mildly wrong. (e.g. I don't believe my package went out for delivery 2pm Sat, and I *definitely* don't believe the driver has now been out for 48 hours with no update.)

Wild that a non-zero number of people were in favour of someone being able to prevent other people from using images of the Nebra sky disk

Also the fact that the court is funded by the state and can also side with the state sure doesn't seem fair.

I've come to realise that non-tech-savvy people reading mainstream news sources about tech news might be the bane of my existence. Not the people, but the reading. I don't need MSN burying the lede and confusing people when it comes to upcoming changes to a platform's authentication methods, CBC fearmongring about password leak, or Fox News confidently telling everyone to “just clear your cookies”

Smartphone is not a computer in your pocket.

Computer is a desktop sized smartphone.

Toasted sesame seeds are basically savoury sprinkles

Once, someone told me that I lived under a rock because I didn't know a certain pop-culture reference. Nay, we all live under different rocks.

If someone from a place that allows recording without consent calls someone in a place that requires consent and records the call, are punishable?

Every year on my birthday, I remember the time I was laid off from a job—which I was not great at but holding onto for the sake of keeping a job—on my birthday. Except this year, where I just remembered it now. I guess that means I got over it?

I'm all in favour of post-consumption variable-cost donations, like the value for value method, but saying things like "less than 1% of listeners contribute" every single episode is cringe as the kids say

AFAIK you can’t have letters like ß or ij in a legal Canadian name. If my name was meant to have one I would flex that so hard

Gotta love it when you show up at the sister-in-law’s for Thanksgiving dinner and she immediately hands you the baby and a carrier and says babe needs a nap

One of my domain names, which I use in part for subscribing to mailing lists to get it separate from my main email, seems to be on some kind of "don't let addresses with this domain in" list and/or just comes up as an invalid domain name. It's really annoying… especially considering I get a lot of spam to that address too.

I'm all for separation of things within the government, but when it takes a fitness centre run by the armed forces 19 days to acknowledge a request to cancel a membership and also have their automatic credit card charges denied due to fraud protection, it sure makes me wish someone with a little more power and skill was involved.

I have a couple contacts who do nice handmade pottery. But none of them seem to do a good cappuccino cup. Com'on, someone make me one.
