I keep seeing people trying to use ChatGPT as a factual search engine or giving it logic / mathematical puzzles, both of which are things that it is very much not capable of handling well - and then writing it off as useless when the results very obviously suck

I think the simple chat interface is actually quite misleading: using it effectively requires a lot more knowledge and skill than is implied by the interface
