What has been a disaster to the world?

@methyltheobromine @calculsoberic@mstdn.social why would people hate JavaScript?

@louiscouture @calculsoberic because it causes software to use ridiculous amounts of memory and processing power while being a security risk on the web

@methyltheobromine @calculsoberic@mstdn.social and of course c++ never has memory issues.

Also, if JavaScript is so bad, then why is it used to develop apps on , which is a mobile operating system on low end devices — destined to third world countries ? —

@louiscouture @calculsoberic because javascript is a scripting language, able to glue together frameworks. No programming required. Which is what "app development" is all about almost all the time.
Also, open an electron app like discord and look at the memory consumption. Think about how such a simple chat client can cause this.

@methyltheobromine @calculsoberic@mstdn.social oh I see, you’re the kind of person who gatekeep programming.

By the way, I have electron as much as you do, but JavaScript isn’t electron. I run great web apps on my Mac with WebKit Safari everyday and I have no problem. I do encounter some problems with electron apps like discord.

Maybe your problem is Chrome, I would switch to another browser if I were you.

@louiscouture @calculsoberic and for the record, I do not defend c++ but it's still a lot better than js
