I have a friend who's generally progressive (economically and in relation to race issues)

But he doesn't like gay people. We know gay people and he doesn't treat them any differently but before he's voiced that he thinks they're weird and gross him out.

Maybe his stance has changed on this, I haven't brought it up recently.

Remember that just because you're friends, doesn't mean you *have* to share the same values. He sounds like the kind of guy who will appreciate you for who you are but will maintain his reservations about personal matters.

@lucifargundam yeah man I totally realise that we don’t need to share the same values. I’m still good friends with him regardless, and I still think he’s a good person in general, regardless of this view.
The fact he doesn’t treat the gay people we mutually know any differently than other people shows to me that on an interpersonal level he doesn’t hate gay people. I think he’s just very confused about it. A lack of understanding perhaps.
