It's the same reason why you miss half your socks and tupperware container lids. There's a naturally occurring void where things go and never return.
Forget purgatory- sending someone to that same void is more abysmal than a dimension of neutrality and apathy!!

Maybe, if you lose your 10mm sockets, that's the Science Gods for still using Outdated Units. And it might be also them who hide your socks and tupperware lids.
