I've seen similar within fandom, but never to those extremes- I do believe they exist though. It's a shame when people bastardize something innocent.
@lucifargundam The problem of Hetalia is attracting too many political zealots. Years ago, I saw a significant nationalistic flamewar on my timeline over something pointless, despite not follow any Hetalia fans in particular. It made me stay away from it.
