For me, it helps me from getting brain fog or tunnel vision. Listening to music also keeps me relaxed instead of on-edge.

@lucifargundam are you often in traffic?

I'm in a rural area so traffic is a non-issue and maybe that makes it more relaxing

I live in a very busy urban area(not a city like New York or San Francisco). Car accidents are daily occurrences here. People deliberately driving the wrong way on the freeway happens at least once every six months.

personally I'd be inclined to keep all of my senses availble though, to help avoid accidents

That's understandable, but ultimately tiring if you have to be on edge and stressed for lengthy commutes.
