The unintentional side-effect of this whole SysV init vs systemd flame war is making the history of System V somewhat overrepresented. System V is more of a corporate system while BSD is a more experimental and hacker friendly one. Many innovations were at the BSD side, like shell completion and job control, curses, vi, or TCP/IP. The early Unix on the Internet were like 100% BSD.

If System V is so good then why isn't there a System VI???
