TLDR;
transcribed Japanese characters come out incorrectly, creating garbage. Some #hackernews commenters attributed it to being similar to 'baud barf'.

My following relataive question would be::

How helpful would a process like this be, in salting a hash algorithm? It clearly has uses- but I'd like to hear people's opinions how something like this could be best utilized.
