If someone had told me how much better the communities were on Mastodon compared with what I was used to elsewhere, I wouldn't have believed them. Now I see people on the dying platform who have no idea what they are missing (especially LGBTQ folks). I don't understand my new home well enough yet to be a decent ambassador, but I feel like I have to try.
@vjack
Ambassador for what?
@vjack
>>I guess just to steer people here by letting them know what they're missing.
<<Users here _have_ been doing that. Usually, people just aren't interested in Fedi because 'its hard' or 'top complicated'. It really isn't, though.
>>I'm seeing LGBTQ folks pouring their hearts out on Twitter and getting no response (or worse).
<< Happens here too. Just easier to navigate to different circles compared to other places.
>>It just makes me wish I knew more about how this all works.
<<Functionally or technically? Functionally, it's really simple. Technically, you might take time depending on your current state of technical comprehension.
@vjack
Well, you're clearly federated - so reach out to others if you have questions. Not everyone will want to help, but that's the diversity of Fedi.
@lucifargundam I'm sure I'll figure it out in time. I think the existence of local instances helps a great deal.
