I suggest hot tea. Or at least boil water to apply indirectly to frost-bitten area.

Fun fact, applying boiling water directly to frostbite is not a good idea- indirectly however, is just fine.

I take it your team doesn't have a 'backup' system for when people can't make it? Ideally, there should always be at least 1 overlap of shifts- if not 2.

In my last team, we'd occasionally ask people who do quick favors for us if we could trust them to do the tasks in question.
