One of my favourite Irish myths is of the leannán sídhe, or the fairy lover. If someone walks alone a night, a beautiful woman with red hair will walk beside them, saying nothing. If she likes you, she will take you as a lover, and over time, she will drain your life force and sanity. If she doesn't, she will end your life.
