fairphone 5 looks okay. costs like 3x as much as what i got and no headphone jack.

if i was forced to pick hipster shit though. might be that.

No jack is a deal breaker. Is it still possible to get Fairphone 3 which had it?
@m0xEE fairphone basically said they won't re-add the jack until people give them bad trustpilot reviews for it
@icedquinn@blob.cat
Does everyone indeed use wireless headphones nowadays? I find it hard to believe TBH, but maybe I'm too out of touch with reality 🤪
@m0xEE they grumble about it, buy an adapter, and pray not to lose it, while having to constantly switch around between adapter and charge cable.

apple is so dedicated to the anti-3.5mm bit that they added wireless charging solely to shut people up about that without admitting people actually do want the feature.

i suspect the real reason is the barrel jack might not be pick & place compatible
@icedquinn @m0xEE I used one phone with no jack and hated using the adapter. I had like 5 of them, strategically deployed in jeans pocket, backpack, in the office, one at home, one at aunt house, etc, so if I forget or even lose one, I can grab another from where I usually go to.
@a1ba @m0xEE i've managed to find a way to avoid the adapter for another two years at least :blobcatbernie:

sadly trump exists and all the small hardware shops are just leaving
@a1ba @m0xEE america is basically not a competitive country in the world economy and boomers think adding import taxes will solve it when the real problem is harvard business school and a lack of investment support for independent designers.

oh well. :blobcatghostrev:

Also gotta blame the buying out of IP by corporate, just to trash it.
