@JubalBarca I've had a similar experience and have found the #ComputationalHumanitiesResearch conference much more welcoming. That is surely because I do computational stuff.
But I must say that working with eastern manuscripts is a niche to the ADHO crowd. I applied with work on one of the most important Cyrillic manuscripts in a year when there was supposedly focus on Southeast Europe, and the reviewers didn't even bother to update their reviews in the second round. Surely my experience is one off, but the quite good on paper process didn't seem to actually materialise in our case.
