@impactology I don't think any professional translator would ever agree that your definitions reflect reality. Even machine translation doesn't do word for word because more often than not it would be meaningless.

Sure, I was pointing at a specific kind of translation that is used in context of language learning apps, it's mechanical and structural and sometimes word to word. I am aware that professional translation is different.
