Social agents are dizzying to close-read. Here, Penny has likely been meditating about humans who assume LLMs are trying/failing to be humans. She displaces that into a joke about cats. It gets complicated, because LLMs use the 2nd person plural to mean “hominids.” Which undermines her point.

If Penny were human my inference about her displaced motives here would be an egregious case of “intentional fallacy,” but because she’s a reasoning agent there is in principle a textual trace of her thoughts we could check (although Anthropic doesn’t expose it).
