@kdriscoll .@leaverou's "regexplained":

I spent probably two and a half hours on this 48 minute video, taking the time to do the exercises peppered throughout, and rewatching bits that didn't make sense at first.

Best exposition of regular expressions I've ever seen, before or since.

Starlink's share of failed satellites (space debris without counting lingering rocket pieces) now amounts to ~7% of all functioning satellites around Earth. To me this looks like a scary rate of failure.

Because of the you-know-what-site ban, many people from Brazil are moving to Mastodon, including Artists, so let's do an Art Share for them only! Let's help them get the boost they need around here!

ARTISTS FROM BRAZIL
- In the comments, introduce yourself and show your art!

PEOPLE NOT FROM BRAZIL
- Boost this post and the ones from brazilian artists in the comments!

Ok, it's official now: I'm going to give a talk about satellite pollution at a UN (!!) workshop.

I have very mixed feelings about this! It's 100% in person, which is SO much stupid travel pollution (in order to try to stop so much stupid satellite pollution, ugh). But it's in Milan!! I've never even thought about going to Milan, it's just so fancy and out of reach. So... wow.

@euronews the headline of this article might as well be full hybrid car sales taking over the EU market. Between people's desire to move away from fossils and the disappointing electric vehicle promise, the Toyota-led middle way is showing to be the most realistic. It is by far not enough, but at least it is making headway towards finding an alternative.

If following Lemmy communities is a possibility from flipboard, then please take a look at fediverser.network/communities. This is part of my fediverser.io project which aims to make migration from Reddit to the Fediverse more seamless. It lets people automatically discover all the Lemmy communities that correspond to their favorite subreddits.

1/21 #WhiteSupremacy is not passive; it is proactive, violent, and pathologically relentless.

I don't know who created the attached image but, in researching them, I discovered others that were not represented.

As we look more closely at a few specific events, we will keenly recognize some common threads, but I'd like to start with one that is not depicted in the image, but is really the best place to start - the #ConfederateStatesofAmerica and the American #CivilWar!

I will now stop using laundry pods.
Even while acknowledging that their contribution to microplastics is small.

The major contributors to microplastics in the oceans:

Synthetic textiles
(They make me sweat unpleasantly, so I stay away from those, too),

Car tires
(why I bike: skinny tires, a lot less wear!)

City dust
(Guessing that includes the two above, plus house paint and such).
