@mathlover It’s the current architecture, aka 25 microservices just to generate the Home timeline. Instead of just making it chronological.

@alex Ah. So it's basically a bird's eye view of Twitter's innards as of the moment. That makes sense.
I still have no idea what content hydration is.

@mathlover “Hydration” in programming is a general term that just means “filling with data” from any source.

I think it just means it’s getting that data ready to be consumed by the next thing in the chain.

Also, 25 microservices to justify x new diversity hires on the development team.

Twitter is such an absurdly simple service that it should have been "complete" years ago, but they just keep "developing" it by adding bloat. The corporate model isn't really suited for software development in many cases.
