*golf clap* heckuva job Elon. Vox populi, vox dei!

“No one wants the job who can actually keep Twitter alive. There is no successor.” -- Musk

So Jason Calacanis wants the job but Elon (correctly) notes he can't do it. Some other people could do it, but aren't interested. Maybe Elon really will hand it over to twitter.com/dril!

@jpanzer I have heard this name come up in conversation ever since Musk took over Twitter and I still have no idea who dril is or why he is so prominent.
Can someone explain it to me?

@mathlover Basically an online performance artist. He has his own Wikipedia page: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dril

'Dril is one of the most notable accounts associated with "Weird Twitter", a subculture on the site that shares a surreal, ironic sense of humor.'

@jpanzer Thanks for the clarification.
So he's basically a glorified cross between a LARPer and an influencer, except even more shallow than the latter?

@jpanzer Also, if I am being too harsh on him, let me know. There's always a possibility I misread things, and I like to err on the side of having an error bar when I am uncertain.

@mathlover I'd classify him as a performance artist / comedian. I mean, he just posts a lot of stuff people find funny and recently published some books which some people might also find funny or might not. I don't think anybody ever is going to be influenced by him in any serious way, he's always been pretty obviously committed to the bit for entertainment purposes.

@jpanzer Fair enough. So more like Vermin Supreme or Count Binface, except 24/7 and not just about politics.
