The University of Oklahoma will start blocking TikTok on campus wifi

@enbrown Geez.
I personally don't like Tiktok, but mostly in the same sense that I don't like rockabilly music or well-done steaks: I just find it tacky. It's very sketchy in terms of data collection, but so is every other for-profit social media site or app of note.

As @mmasnick pointed out, if the CCP wanted American citizen's data, there's a ton of other places they could get it besides TikTok. It's all performative nonsense.

I wonder if there's a chance this could raise constitutional issues.

@mathlover @enbrown @mmasnick

I think they're currently in compliance with the EU's data privacy policy, where Twitter isn't (if i heard right)

Lots of the issues with TikTok and data from my understanding has just been xenophobia - i'm not on the platform though, not my kind of thing

@4bz That's not surprising given the current state of Twitter. @enbrown @mmasnick
