@jpanzer Fair enough. So more like Vermin Supreme or Count Binface, except 24/7 and not just about politics.

@ian Wait, the editor wars were that petty? Glad I picked up Emacs in 2011 and I'm not possessive about it.
Via @thenation: “While the online exercise of democracy may come to unseat Musk himself, it’s decidedly not the case that the apps that monitor our identities as we trade jokes and pet videos have produced a surge in social democracy” — Good stuff from @chrislehmann https://www.thenation.com/article/society/elon-musk-twitter/

Is this New York Times Pitchbot material?
It's big that the 1/6 report is set to refer charges of seditious conspiracy and/or insurrection against Trump. Some dismiss this as "theater." But it will alert the public that DOJ *should* be seriously investigating him for 1/6-related crimes. That matters.
New piece from me:

@cfiesler Yeah, it appears Mr. Andreessen has gotten rather more openly performative since his days at Netscape...not to mention block-happy.
@cfiesler From what I have heard, it's not well moderated, has only a fraction of the traffic of Mastodon, and also has a heavy amount of involvement from one Marc Andreessen, who as of late has become quite the clown at Twitter.
Also, I love Ruby Freeman.
She's a national treasure, and the harassment she's suffered is a national shame.
Ruby Freeman is a true hero.

After almost three years, despite having seen most of it many times now, the on-the-ground footage from the January 6th riot has lost none of its impact on me. Watching it is still a gut punch, every time.
In 1933, there were 500,000 Jewish people in Germany, of a total population of 67 M. That's a bit less than 0.75 percent.
Today there are an estimated 1.6 M adults in the US that identify as transgender: about 0.5 percent of US adults.
It doesn't take a large group to serve as targets for fascist hatred and violence.
A small minority can play that role just fine.
