@mtsw To be fair, the difference between Nazi Germany and Twitter is that Musk is actually losing support, wealth, and advertisers in real time. Each new major mistake causes people to flee here, and given the rate of technical issues has increased I don't see that stopping. Plus the FTC and EU regulators are not happy, and Elon seems to be blowing them off.
That being said, I don't see Twitter surviving Elon, the months that follow are going to be weird, and any attempt to limit the damage to other things besides Twitter (and to get people over here) is a good thing.
(In case anyone asks, I have been on Mastodon since 2019 and completely left Twitter over a month ago after spending my last week telling people about here.)
It's pretty remarkable how much Elon's Twitter takeover is a textbook fascist takeover: leftists immediately purged, censorship regime imposed behind the scenes, secret police rooting out enemies, right wing terrorism supported by the state, etc and how uncannily similar the mainstream liberal response of pretending nothing is wrong is, even with *very low* costs of walking out the door and refusing to collaborate.
Merry Christmas! The U.S. energy department just declared the Texas grid an emergency again-again!
Every time Ted Cruz flees to Mexico, an angel gets its wings! 🎄
Fuck Greg Abbott, Ted Cruz, John Cornyn, and every Republican, Texas voter. Also, merry Christmas. https://mastodon.social/@flexghost/109572011317991158
@jaredzimmerman It keeps asking me to post an authorization code.
Children born today will see literally thousands of animals disappear in their lifetime, as global food webs collapse.

@nami_wiki I'm not a geologist and can't weigh in on these debates with any certainty...that being said, it would not be surprising if you were right.
On the other hand that guy with his second abiogenesis theory is clearly full of crap.

Elon Musk just responded to a thread of the second most powerful man in Russia, a notorious war criminal, “predicting” the collapse of the West and civil war in the US with: “epic thread.”
It’s a real mystery why advertisers are fleeing Twitter and Tesla stocks are sinking

The hack of Piers Morgan's Twitter account comes just a few days after someone claimed to obtained the data of 400 million Twitter accounts in a major breach. That person was trying to sell the data and included Morgan's phone number and email as evidence that the breach data was authentic.
I don't see any great news articles about the breach, possibly because of the holidays, but @briankrebs has recently posted some reliably good info and analysis about it here on Mastodon.
It is so beautiful with parents of autistic children get it. For any parents reading, please note the part where the author decided to limit what they share of their child's good and bad days.
When I learned my child was autistic, I was devastated. But reading about autism from autistic adults changed my whole perspective.

"The Trouble with White Fragility Discourse" makes some very good points about DiAngelo's approach.

Here's a good look at the problems of unconscious bias training by Tiffany L. Green and Nao Hagiwara -- it's got links out to some of the body of evidence that @PragmatistProf mentioned.

I've tried not to bring too much baggage with me from COVID Twitter but this NYTimes story is appalling. Not only do they paint those still wearing masks as holdouts, but they somehow couldn't find someone who wears anything in between a handmade cloth mask and an elastomeric P100, giving the impression that the remaining mask wearers are either wearing ineffectual protection or wearing a level of protection that most people were unwilling to adopt even pre-vaccination.
