It is long past.
If Churchill had been killed, any of several elected officials would have stepped up.
If Hitler had been killed (I knew a chap who tried to drop him a birthday present) then that government would less clearly continue.
Putin's status is more personal than Zelensky's.
The latter has risen to the occasion, marvellously.
The former lacks a convenient way to step back, down, away.
His absence would encourage resolution.
