bill outlaws diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives in Texas Higher ed. “The response is not only to outlaw the teaching about injustice and political movements but to defund academic disciplines and programs that mention, think about, or enact diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.

This bill is about censorship, commitment to U.S. exceptionalism, and prohibition.”

@mguhlin

Ah, yes. Texas leading the world.

Right back into the 19th century.

@mguhlin
So if the lifestyle is to come in black helicopters and take everybody's guns, Bibles and chainsaws away, a professor could get fired for saying unflattering things about that?

@ThePanamaNews A lifestyle that incorporates guns and chainsaws as a way to enforce distortions of Christian values is flawed. A belief system that can’t handle history as it happened, not as it was whitewashed, is flawed. But then, is that a surprise?

We are seeing the latest installment of fearful, power-gathering people trying to hog precious resources for themselves and theirs. Is there a better way? We better find it.

And, so glad to see a fellow 🇵🇦. In your extra years on the planet, have you found a better path forward?

@mguhlin I try to report things as I see them, and have a healthy sense of respect and disrespect, as warped as this old hippie is.

I'd like to be better off than I am, but then I made choices that rejected a life of mindless accumulation. Been the politician with the outsized ego, and also seen how destructive that can be when unchecked.

And was rude to that gringo who called me anti-American for writing about why yesterday was a national day of mourning? He deserved it.

@mguhlin Don't get me wrong. I'm a Detroit Tigers fan. I'm a "¡Fuera Yanqui!" guy, never a "Yankee Go Home!" guy.

Yankees should be tagged out before the cross home plate.

I'm a democratic socialist, which makes me a Berniecrat of sorts as a gringo and an independent of a left variety as a pana.

The PRD? Member party of the Socialist International but they are neither very socialist, very democratic nor very revolutionary? Democrats Abroad? Been chair of DA Panama, need new leaders now.

@mguhlin We're heading back toward the days when the slavery states routinely censored the mail, seized newspapers, and tried to gag abolitionists from even trying to petition Congress.
