TLDR:
-Author is a teacher who allows students to take assessments twice, once independentally & a 2nd time using their handwritten notes
-He then averages the scores for the gradebook
-This encourages quality notetaking. Students become open to improved notetaking skills & learning new notetaking systems
-Research shows handwritten notes improve retention & understanding
-LMS like schoology make it administer & grade

@HIH_Homeschool @Bookmarkers @edutooters Retrieval Practice or Practice testing is a research backed strategy. Retrieval Practice (d=0.46) is often referred to as Practice Testing. The Visible Learning MetaX database describes it as a way to support long-term retention. It also assists you in increasing access to the “to-be-remembered” information. More here - https://blog.tcea.org/tag/retrieval-practice/ and there is a website dedicated to this, too.
@mguhlin @Bookmarkers @edutooters Thank you for the link. That was kind of you to share. I will read it later today.
