Mondrian is most famous for his abstract works, but many forget he experimented with representational painting. He painted this farm often, & produced this canvas after some of his abstract work, possibly to make a sale. Hey, even brilliant artists need to eat.

@Vagrarian I was under the impression that his abstract work came after this. Anyway, this particular version is one of my all-time favorite paintings.
@mjambon I had to double-check, but he'd done experiments in cubism and abstraction before this. His most famous works were still to be done....
