I find it interesting to see, by a kind of revealed preference, what people really value via what qualities about someone they criticize or insult.
E.g., in the progressive circles I run in everybody agrees that body shaming is wrong, but shaming people for having having body parts or disabilities that don't match the standard masculine ideal is their go-to default insult, so it's pretty clear they don't mean it when they say all bodies are ok or even that trans men are real men.
Humanity has historically eaten 6,000 plants; now we eat mostly NINE: This is a great (scary) story from Bloomberg on how global diets have converged on a few crops in a few decades – with many alarming implications. Well told (super smart graphics!) #food #climate

While everyone is worrying about the new @nature@twitter.com paper at https://www.nature.com/articles/s41586-022-05543-x, at least some elements of the answer are obvious and have been known for a while.

While claiming that you cant see more than 60 fps is obviously wrong, I think at a certain point we can stop increasing refresh rates.
540 Hz really seems overkill

My recommended first step towards a saner, more productive public conversation about #drugs: stop talking about certain (legal) drugs as if they were not, in fact, “drugs”

@freemo Latex formatting on qoto seems a little buggy, at least when showing mathstodon.xyz toots.
Obviously no pressure to fix, was just wondering if you are aware of it
Astrology also encounters notable discontinuities when passing from one star sign to the next: two twins, one born a minute before midnight at the end of one star sign period, and one born a minute after, would have significantly different horoscopes; similarly if they were born on opposite sides of a border between time zones (or better yet, the international date line).
