Command lines are powerful, and better than GUIs in some cases.

I use a mix of command line and GUI for git.

Part of the problem is that many GUIs are BS.

Certainly every programming language I've seen in my lifetime that is written with GUI point and click gestures rather than ordinary linear text is heavy BS. And I've been forced to use a number of them.

@JeffGrigg @GeePawHill @msilpala once your IDE starts using a lot of visualizations (and it should), point and click (or drag and drop) is exactly right for a lot of interactions. Others need a search interface, and again others a cli (see gtoolkit)

@StOnSoftware @JeffGrigg @GeePawHill I do NOT use cURL to post toots, because I expect that doing so would be far clunkier than using Ivory (my client of choice). But I do use cURL for several dev-centric tasks where repeatability and scriptability are more valuable to me than one-off convenience.

The tool depends on the need; the need varies from moment to moment.
