Hello people of the Fediverse! Some of you may have heard that a new Mastodon client, Ivory, is in development for iOS (and Mac!). This is true! Tapbots is going all in on Mastodon and we hope this place continues to grow and thrive. Tweetbot will continue to be developed alongside Ivory as a lot of code is shared. A new Mac version of Tweetbot and Ivory are also currently in development and we are working hard on getting those towards a public beta state.

There must be an amusing story behind this: 0% precincts reporting; candidates tied at 0% each; so the NYT has called it for the incumbent. Is the challenger just tragically behind in every opinion poll? I don’t follow Hawaii politics enough to know.

Seriously though, fedi was *built* by furries, trans and queer folk, disabled neurodivergent people.
This is *the reason* the culture here is what it is. Why CWs are a thing. Why image descriptions are a thing. Why privacy matters here. Why moderation tools not only exist, but are usable — and used.
If you had joined and asked yourself "wow, how come this place is so chill and kinda… nice?" — that's thanks to all the nice people from communities some people call "weird".

Early worries I have as a journalist using Mastodon for #journalism:
1) Subpoenas & source protection: You're at the mercy of whoever operates your instance. I'm guessing most smaller instance admins aren't also lawyering up to protect newsgathering.
2) The owner of your instance can read your DMs. Be careful.
3) Publishers could effectively verify journalists by running instances from their official domains. They could surveil their journalists there too. Not every publisher is ethical.
@freemo Do you know of any federation issues between qoto.org and mastodon.social?
I’m trying to follow a couple of my folks who are on that server. They don’t see my follow coming, nor even a follow request.
From my side, it shows that my follow request is Pending.
They also don’t see it when I @ mention them (@RonJeffries and @GeePawHill)
Do these issues sound familiar to you?
I’m sure there’s documentation of all this, and it quite amuses me how much I am NOT feeling an urge to find or read it.
So, I enabled the “advanced web interface” option. I see more stuff at once.
But now I can’t find my list of Follows and Followers.
Feels a bit like my parents looked, while trying to figure out the VCR controls.
