@freemo any chance to have this script working on Qoto ? Or better: enabled by default

greasyfork.org/en/scripts/4541

(sorry if you're not the person to ask, I'm still discovering how things are working ๐Ÿ˜… )

@nKiaru @freemo it should work by just editing the script on line 8 with an adress lile https://*quoto* or whatever captures the server url?

@nKiaru If you add it as an issue or pull request on the source repo then i will be happy to test it on the next release

@freemo sorry ๐Ÿ˜… , where's the source repo ? Is it the github mastodon ? github.com/mastodon/mastodon . Or this one ? git.qoto.org/qoto/qoto ? The last commit was two years ago. Is it out of sync with the github repo ?

@nKiaru its the second one, but it is out of sync and not currently the code we have on the server.. ill update it in the next few days and sync the repos.

@freemo Thanks for all your work for this instance btw! And is there any way to support your work and the infrastructure ? I looked at qoto.org/about/more and didn't see anything obvious

@nKiaru Much appreciated.

We have had people invest before but generally we dont need it. I invested tens of thousands into the company myself and there is more than enough in the account to last us for years to come.

If you want to contribute invest your time or other resources.

@freemo Super reactive ๐Ÿ‘ . Ok, I've had a remark and read (mstdn.social/@layeredstrange/1) that uploading a video (direct mp4) can put a high burden on mastodon instances, and it's preferable to link videos from streaming services (peertube, youtube, vimeo). Do you confirm ? If I put videos from qoto.org, is the burden put on qoto.org only or on other instances as well ? If it's on qoto only, what's the qoto limit then ?

@nKiaru We have a very well funded and beefy system.. it can handle the load so you are more than welcome to upload here.

Keep in mind peertube (and qoto has a peer tube instance you can use) has some advantages for you though. You can upload bigger and higher resolution videos. Plus peertube is federates so you dont even **need** to post the link, you can follow a peertube account directly from here, no problem.

Check out @freemo for an example, thats my account on peertube but as you can see you can follow it and see it straight from here.
