@thor@mstdn.social for your usual office work though there are no strict metrics of workload or duties, so you are paid for your commitment, and the "be here at this time" is the best metric we've got for that. If you read the contract you might find a lot of other nice things hinting that what they want you to do is dedicate your life to your job (such as "all your thought belong to us") and not just produce results or carry out duties. For more concrete types of work there are usually more concrete contract terms as well.

It's not necessarily bad, if you enjoy the workplace, or if you are a beginner and haven't yet figured out what it's all about in your particular line of work.
