OK, so you know how when you do “Open Image in a New Tab” in Firefox it reloads the image, giving obnoxious sites the chance to redirect you? (Yeah, I’m lookin’ at you, Reddit.)

Is there any way to circumvent that? I can save the image to disk and then open it locally, but that’s really fiddly when all I want to do is just see the image full-resolution with the ability to zoom.

I'm still using old.reddit.com with the Reddit enhancement suite plug in which I can left mouse hold and drag images larger to see them.
