Bike lane (n): a strip of poorly-maintained tarmac (sometimes of a different colour to the adjacent road) upon which it is legitimate to park, unload your van, or just amble about. You are definitely justified in getting performatively affronted if a cyclist yells at you because your child has just wandered into the lane and nearly gone under his wheels

@pikesley @Steveb That said, I have also witnessed cyclists insisting on going on the road when there is a perfect wide and clean cycling lane. As a cyclist, I find this very annoying (along with other behaviours such as crossing with red lights, cycling without a helmet, or turning without indicating).
