The Dutch have chosen this bird as their national "Bird of the Year" 2023.
Since the late '80s, their number is decreasing, so it's about time somebody put this bird in the spotlight.
Fun fact: Their beak grows very fast and takes on different shapes... During Winter it's more shaped like a chisel so they can hammer on shellfish but in Summer it's shaped like a spear to skewer worms
