Stop saying moving to Linux is easy...
I've been using Linux since 2001' ish.
Moving from Win 10 to Linux ISN'T EASY..
Its an 90%/10% problem.
Installing Linux is easy
Installing 90% of software, is fairly easy, once you have found the right software and replaced it.
10% of software has no direct equivalent, is not supported at all, or is very complex to move.
wine (or similar) does NOT WORK on many rearer/older packages.
Not having those 10% is a deal breaker for many.
@Extelec I have a windows partition for the 3-4 apps I really need.
Coreldraw - doesn't work under wine at all. There's a web browser in the installer that wine can't emulate. I need this for my laser stuff and I really don't get on with any other vector software.
Couple other drawing/design tools that also don't work.
Am tempted to see if I can spin up a windows 10 VM for them so I don't have to reboot.
@Jencen Old Corel is one of my goto's not just for laster cutting, Actually the laser version is higher than the one I design in.
@Extelec love how.... Simple and intuitive it is.
I can do in corel in 30 seconds and like... 5 clicks, what took me 5 minutes to do in Adobe (arrange holes around a center)
Am on 2024 as there was a humble bundle for the full perpetual licence for dirt cheap so grabbed it.
It "just works" with the epilog stuff.
And I can do a control panel layout, get everything where I want it and dump the DXF into a CAD program easier than fucking around and drawing it in there o.<
@nicolaromano @djinn506 @Jencen I'd heard, I have to admit I haven’t tried since. I need to give it another go.
