The six nights next to amber sands that he booked begin by unpacking the baggage. It was the same beach, same resort, but could he make the same magic from their honeymoon those carefree years ago? It was their first vacation alone since the kids and he wanted perfection.

"Nothing gold can stay," she says laying her ring softly on the nightstand. The facade is cracking and she sees a path to freedom. No more nostalgia, no more pretense, no more perfect life locking in her choices. She turns, and behind her the rising tide rages against the sand.
