@vivianho found a roommate on Craigslist years ago. Price was very nice, he kept an opposite schedule from me so we never saw each other. It could have been perfect.

3 months in, the internet goes out. Next time I see him (days later) I ask what's up? He said they cancelled it because it was in the previous tenant's name. He suggested I could sign up myself if I wanted to

5 months in, the hot water goes out. See him a few days later like, what's up? Says he'll call the gas company. A week goes by, cold showers, he says the gas company won't believe he's not his brother. Something about social security numbers, etc. But if I told him mine, he could get the gas back on. (All this time I've been paying "half" the utilities). I start looking for another place

7 months in, I go to get a pizza out of the freezer and something falls on the floor. He'd recently "gone to visit a cousin in San Francisco." Turns out it's a vacuum sealed bag of pot, maybe a whole pound. The freezer is full of them. No heads up, no warning, just a wheelbarrow full of pot in the freezer. I've signed a lease at a new place

8 months in, he finds me and tells me he's moving to California at the end of next month and won't be able to help with the rent for the last 3 months. I say that's perfect, I'm moving out in two weeks

At a job some years ago, I would write a haiku every morning. If I was bored, maybe several. Had a word doc with 100+ haikus in it when I left. And to. this. day. I kick myself for somehow forgetting to put it on a flash drive

The character count of 65k+ is taking up space in my mind. Wondering what I can do with that. It's a weird mix of "way more than you need" and "counting down so you feel it being lost". Wondering if maybe doing some flash fiction would be fun.

Congrats to @MattGertz who will hopefully never be mis-tagged for a certain congressman on this platform

@neorsd when I visited Mexico we weren't supposed to flush toilet paper. Do we have special handling for that stuff?

Funny story:

I went to a "drunken philosophy" thing over the weekend. It's a bunch of people with little to no formal training having beers and asking questions, big fun. So I went to a table of people I didn't know and this happened:
Me: "You guys talking philosophy here?"
Table: "Uhhh... Yeah"
Me: "So what did you think about the prompt?"
Table: "What prompt are you talking about?"
Me: "What philosophy are you taking about?"

Turns out, totally randomly, half a local college's philosophy department was just there having drinks!
