The storyteller
Needs confidence above all
To bend worlds to fit
Jagged horizon
Cloud dappled and hoary heights
The mountains await
#vss365 Very Short Story
They say that years ago Superman fell and broke his back. I hear the whole world cried for poetic injustice. That the man who flew, could no longer stand.
What a feeling that must be. To see the world from on high. To bound over mountains. If I could leave these wheels behind and walk.
Regrettable deed
But it opened the right doors
Secrets we'll die with
Weighing and testing
Examining each to find
Perfect Christmas tree
#vss365 Very Short Story
Friday night, six years ago today, they stood outside her door. Uncertain of himself, uncertain of her, he leaned part way and she kissed him. Under twinkling LED stars, their history began when she invited him in.
"Even if it survives childbirth, the baby will live a few hours at most."
The words emptied the air from the room and for long heartbeats no one breathed. She looked up at him, uncertainty in her eyes and though he was uncertain himself he leaned down and kissed her. When she opened her eyes there was no path but tears, but he saw resolution and their future began when she spoke.
Skin still soft from sleep
Gentle kisses, roving hands
Outside world will wait
