How come some people can post massively long posts here on #Mastodon, and I’m limited to 500 characters? I don’t mind the limit, but a couple of times I’ve wanted to post longer/more then I had the ability to. #JustAsking

@hopkinsdavid Someone might use a modified version of Mastodon, or entirely different bits of software to power a server.
Other software might give the admin the option of customizing how long posts can be (or the admin might just modify the code directly to change it).
