@wststreet Crude market research round.

What sort of functionality do you look for in a fediverse implementation? If I was to build one, what would you want to see?

@wststreet I'm also thinking of how to handle content which someone might not like.

Some kind of label but without hashtag semantics which someone can filter? o.O

While NSFW is a sort of label, it lacks granularity. Some people lump in mere "sexy" (although, this one is kind of a meh example) with outright porn with some photo of dead bodies from a war zone.

While I think war zones are more of a concern on mainstream social media, it kind of illustrates the point.

It's a vexing question...

@olives Uh, hard to say, I'm barely active enough. And I haven't read how the fediverse works so maybe the things I want are not even possible.

I guess I like emoji reactions, as an extra it would be cool to be able to react with multiple.
Quote renote is a nice feature on misskey, I wish mastodon had it, or if it does I wish this instance had it.
While I rarely use them, DMs are kinda confusing, they look too much like a normal post.

@wststreet Emoji reactions. Like Discord?

I've seen them around, so presumably there is *some way* to do that, although it might be a bit less efficient than a simple like (I know, I know, I'm thinking of performance, lol).

Quote *might* be coming to Mastodon. I think we have it here on Qoto (it's a fork of Mastodon). But, yeah, that is a useful one.

I think DMs *are* normal posts with a visibility setting set so that only one person can see it. The UI might just hide that detail from you, hehe.

@olives Yeah, it's important to think of performance if you want something scalable.

I know DMs are normal posts, I just wish they would show separately somehow.

@wststreet This instance does both. It shows them separately and inline in the feed, lol.

@olives It's a really complex matter, I guess you could find more granular list somewhere online, I've only been on here for 2 months, I haven't seen such a thing implemented anywhere.
The closest thing I've seen on here are word filters.

@wststreet Oops, I responded to this from notifications without looking at the context (for a moment, I thought you were talking about reactions).

Deleted my original dumb post.

Yeah, I'm brainstorming this one quite a bit. It ties into... A lot of the issues which arise on this network.

Also, with Threads coming, you might run into that dead body case sooner than you might think o.O

I've seen that on the bird site. It was not fun.
